From self-guided walks through to guided walking tours, there’s plenty of ways to explore the city.

Melbourne Greeter Service


The Melbourne Greeter Service is a free two - four hour walking orientation of the city. Orientations are available in English 7 days a week (excluding Good Friday and Christmas Day) and depart once daily at 9.30am from the basement level of the Melbourne Visitor Centre at Federation Square (located on the corner of Flinders and Swanston Streets).

Orientations in foreign languages are available including Dutch, French, German, Greek, Italian, Spanish and Swedish. Check the website for scheduled tours.

City Ambassadors


Keep an eye out for our City Ambassadors in their distinctive red uniforms for assistance with directions, public transport enquiries, events and general questions about Melbourne.

Wherever you are from, our friendly volunteers can help you! They are approachable and equipped with extensive local knowledge. City Ambassadors can be mainly found along Swanston Street at corners such as Flinders Street and Bourke Street.

Monday to Saturday - 10am to 4pm. Sunday – 11am to 3pm (excluding Good Friday and Christmas Day)
